New Years Eve 2011

I spent NYE 2011 in Sydney Harbour mixing monitors for Culture Club, immediately preceded by a warm-up show at Dubai Tennis Stadium. Providing 12 IEM mixes and 4 wedge mixes + side fills with no soundcheck, I specified a DiGiCo D5 to cope with the high output demands and consistency required from the show. Culture Club are currently making plans to tour extensively this year.

Christmas/New Year

The run up to Christmas and the new year is as busy as it ever is with no let up for festivities. I'm currently mixing monitors for Kim Wilde supporting Status Quo on the UK QuoFestive tour. Nordic Rentals from Denmark are supplying us with a Yamaha M7CL monitor console with Sennheiser 3000 Series IEMs. The tour runs until 17th December before I start production rehearsals with Culture Club.

Pixie Lott Radio Gigs

I am currently out with Pixie Lott, mixing monitors for her performing a short acoustic set with a small band consisting of acoustic guitar and 2 BVs. The 3 gigs in Newcastle, Manchester and Liverpool arenas are part of a multi-act bill including JLS, Jessie J, Olly Murs amongst others.

Last weekend, I was hired to mix monitors for Jason Derulo and his band for a performance in Northern Ireland. The outdoor concert was staged in front of the Belfast City Hall, was broadcast as part of the MTV European Music Awards and also featured Snow Patrol. Production House supplied a Yamaha M7CL and a Sennheiser G3 IEM system.

Singapore Grand Prix

I was hired last weekend to mix monitors for Boy George who was booked to perform at the Singapore Grand Prix. The bill also featured Linkin Park, Shakira, Shaggy, Rick Astley amongst other worldwide acts. Local Singapore company Unusual Productions provided 2 PM5Ds, an EV XLC line array, Nexo PS15 monitor wedges and Sennheiser G2 IEMs.

August and September this year have been busier than ever, including spots with Kim Wilde and Howard Jones at the Rewind Festival, a fleeting trip to Sicily mixing monitors for Boy George, mixing FOH on the Lambanana Stage at the Mathew Street Festival over the August bank holiday weekend and FOH at the 'In The Woods' festival in Kent.

July again has been back-to-back, with jobs including a number of shows at the Emporio Armani store in Bond Street (featuring acoustic sets by Plan B and the Pierces), Alice Cooper's new album launch at The Ivy club in London, Hurts at T In The Park, Howard Jones at Festival Too in King's Lynn as well as the regular Kim Wilde shows around Europe.

Things have been busy for me recently, with a variety of different jobs including the Isle Of Wight Festival with Boy George, a show on a cruise liner off the coast of Cannes and the after-show of the Gerry Weber Tennis Open in Germany with Kim Wilde, a corporate event in the Royal Courts Of Justice and a private Ceilidh in Waterloo.

Kim Wilde German Tour

I am currently on tour mixing monitors for Kim Wilde on her 'Come Out And Play' tour. The tour takes in 10 dates across Germany over 2 weeks in venues ranging from 1500-3000 capacity. Public reaction so far has been overwhelming. Soundhouse of Germany are supplying a Yamaha PM5D console and Sennheiser 2000 IEM system, in addition to a Yamaha PM5D-RH FOH console and L'Acoustics dV-DOSC arrays. www.kimwilde.com

Last weekend I was contracted to audio crew for the Secret Garden Party's 'Lost Lover's Ball' event, a Valentine's weekend festival of music and entertainment. The event took place in the historic Battersea Power Station in South London over 3 days.

Haircut One Hundred

I am currently working as production sound engineer for the Qdos production of 'Jack And The Beanstalk', starring Bobby Davro at the Orchard Theatre in Dartford. Thames Audio supplied a Funktion One system comprising of Resolution 2's, F81 fills, an AX88 centre fill and F-118 / Resolution 18 subs all powered by MC2 E-475 amplifiers with Sennheiser G3 radio and MKE2 microphones.

Charity Shows

I have been involved in 2 charity shows this week. The first was the 'Amber Rocks' event for the charity Amber featuring Eddie Jordan and the Robbers, Finbar Furey, Rick Parfitt Jr and Graffiti Classics. I mixed FOH for this event. The second was the annual 'Wooden Spoon Ball', this year being a Moulin Rouge themed spectacular at the Hilton Park Lane, for which I mixed monitors. Capital Sound Hire supplied a Yamaha M7CL and low-profile Martin Audio LE12J wedges on stage.

Mathew Street Festival

I was employed over the bank holiday weekend to mix FOH and monitors on the Water Street stage at the Mathew Street Festival. This free 2-day gig in the centre of Liverpool and run by Liverpool City Council featured 6 stages and was very well attended. From The Jam, Billy J. Kramer and Ska Wars featured on the stage among others. Capital Sound Hire supplied a Yamaha M7CL with LE1500 wedges on stage and a Meyer Sound Mica / 600HP FOH rig.

I spent the past weekend at the one-day Milk Festival in Ireland, mixing monitors for Sam Fox and her band. The festival, held at Ballinlough Castle about 60 minutes outside of Dublin, is Europe's first LGBT outdoor festival. Also on the bill were Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Seb Fontaine and Alexandra Burke.

Cannizaro Park Festival 2010

This annual festival held on Wimbledon Common is in full swing again after a 1-year absence, and once again, I am looking after sound. This year's acts include soul legend Mica Paris, comedian Rufus Hound and Formula 1 pundit Eddie Jordan with his band amongst others. Thames Audio, as regular supplier to the festival installed 2x Yamaha M7CLs and an L'Acoustics dV-DOSC / SB28 FOH rig. The festival runs until 17th July. www.cannizaroparkfestival.com

Megan Mullally & Supreme Music Program
