The Great Dorset Steam Fair (31st August-4th September 2005) is a huge steam festival near Blandford, Dorset which also features 5 music stages.
I was in charge of sound (and as it turned out, the whole stage) on the real ale marquee stage, which mainly featured jazz bands at lunchtime, solo artists and more upbeat entertainment in the evening.
Guilfest 2005 (15th-17th July 2005) expanded on the previous year with the addition of the Rocksound Cave and Surrey Advertiser stage, which USSU Crew provided for.
This year, I was part of a 2-man team in charge of FOH sound on the Uncut Stage (stage 2). The rig was made of 8 Renkus-Heinz CE3T mid/high boxes a side with RH subs and centre-fill, driven by Lab Gruppen amplifiers and a Midas XL200 and 2 BSS Omnidrives at FOH.
From 16th-18th July 2004, USSU Crew provided PA, lights and crew for the Uncut stage, the Anderton's stage and just PA and crew for the Dance Tent. I was part of the 4-man team responsible for setting up and running the sound rig on the Anderton's stage.
The rig consisted of 3 Martin RS-800s and 1 JBL dual-18" sub a side for FOH with control from a Yamaha PM3500. On monitors was a Soundcraft 500 with powered RCF monitors and Yamaha EQ.
On 5th February 2005, courses based in the PATS building (Performing Arts and Technology Studios) at the University of Surrey had a ball. I was in charge of FOH for this event, which involved a single band and DJ.
A switcher rig I built, based on 2 Tascam MX2424s with a switcher for automatic switching if 1 unit were to fail. It also featured control from a PC, 2 CD players, 1 MD player and a UPS.
